Shannon Dowd

BOARD CERTIFIED AND LICENSED MASTER’S LEVEL SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Ms. Shannon, M.A., CCC-SLP, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Maine, Orono.  Ms. Shannon is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of the Maine Speech Language Hearing Association.  Prior to joining Bright Start Therapy, Ms. Shannon completed clinical practicums in a variety of settings, including the Conley Speech, Language and Hearing Center, Child Development Center and Old Town Elementary School where she got the opportunity to work with a variety of disorders and age groups ranging from birth through fifth grade.  She also completed a practicum at an inpatient acute care center at Maine General Medical Center where she worked with patients experiencing aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia and traumatic brain injuries.  Areas of special interest include early childhood intervention, including speech disorders and literacy.  When Ms. Shannon is not working with her clients, she enjoys hiking, biking, and camping with her family.
